Kefalonia is the 6th largest island in Greece and filled with gorgeous mountains and beaches.

It was a last-minute decision of ours to fly there to see in the end of summer.

Exploring the Greek Island of Kefalonia Episode 2: Exploring Myrtos Beach

We kick off our first day in Kefalonia, Greece by driving to the most beautiful beach on the island, Myrtos Beach. It has actually been ranked as one of the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world for many years but interestingly, it didn't actually exist until after the 1953 earthquake that raised Kefalonia by 1 metre.

What started off as just a relaxing day in Assos town in the Greek island of Kefalonia turned into a creepy expedition to one of Kefalonia's abandoned ghost towns. We'd encountered many abandoned buildings in Kefalonia so far so decided to delve into this historical aspect of the island by visiting the ghost town of Old Farsa, a town that was abandoned after the 1953 earthquake. Exploring the Greek Island of Kefalonia Episode 5: Disappointment at Melissani Cave

Our last day in Kefalonia was a full one. We started the day by heading to the small village of Drakopoulata which is said to house the most intact of the original Kefalonia buildings. They may not have been as intact as we expected but exploring an abandoned town is heaps of fun.

After our exploration of the ghost town, we continued our journey east towards the town of Sami where we hoped to visit the renowned Melissani Cave. However, we were not expecting what we found...
